Snow Days

We have been fortunate enough to get to enjoy several days of snow, and honestly am hoping for more. ;o)

Here are some pictures from our snow adventures. This is when we had only enough to cover the ground. We went out Monday, but I didn't take any pictures, just played.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!

Christmas Day

We were so blessed Christmas Day. I absolutely loved every minute of the day. The girls got up around 7:30. Lillie informed me that she looked at the tree and that Santa didn't come because things didn't look any different. So we went in to check it out and she realized that because the lights were off (and it was dark outside) that she just didn't notice that Santa had come. The girls broke into the stockings lightening fast. Probably the funniest thing that happened was when Gracie opened her last present. (Lillie had just opened a camera) She saw it was a Cinderella doll, threw it down, kicked it, and then cried. After convincing her that Santa said she had to wait until she was older like Lillie to get a camera, she was okay and has been sleeping with her new doll everynight since.
One of Gracie's favorite things (and the only thing that she actually asked for) was the pink suckers she found.

One of Lillie's biggest reactions came when she opened a pair of pajama's with feet in them. She also got a camera, which had over a hundred pictures by the end of the day. :o)

Both girls received a ton of things from Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles. Something that my parents did each year was take a picture of us with our gifts and it is kind of neat looking back and remembering what we got, so I have been doing the same for my girls.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too!

Merry Christmas

I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! What better way to celebrate, but by remembering the birth of our Saviour - Jesus Christ. As you go thru your festivities this weekend, don't forget the real reason.

Santa Claus and Christmas trees and presents are okay,
But Jesus is the real reason, we have a Christmas Day!

Luke 2 Message

The Birth of Jesus

1-5About that time Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Empire. This was the first census when Quirinius was governor of Syria. Everyone had to travel to his own ancestral hometown to be accounted for. So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, David's town, for the census. As a descendant of David, he had to go there. He went with Mary, his fiancée, who was pregnant.
6-7While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the hostel.
An Event for Everyone
8-12There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger."
13-14At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.
15-18As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. "Let's get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us." They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.
19-20Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself. The sheepherders returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they'd been told!
Blessings
21When the eighth day arrived, the day of circumcision, the child was named Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived.
22-24Then when the days stipulated by Moses for purification were complete, they took him up to Jerusalem to offer him to God as commanded in God's Law: "Every male who opens the womb shall be a holy offering to God," and also to sacrifice the "pair of doves or two young pigeons" prescribed in God's Law.
25-32In Jerusalem at the time, there was a man, Simeon by name, a good man, a man who lived in the prayerful expectancy of help for Israel. And the Holy Spirit was on him. The Holy Spirit had shown him that he would see the Messiah of God before he died. Led by the Spirit, he entered the Temple. As the parents of the child Jesus brought him in to carry out the rituals of the Law, Simeon took him into his arms and blessed God:
God, you can now release your servant;
release me in peace as you promised.
With my own eyes I've seen your salvation;
it's now out in the open for everyone to see:
A God-revealing light to the non-Jewish nations,
and of glory for your people Israel.
33-35Jesus' father and mother were speechless with surprise at these words. Simeon went on to bless them, and said to Mary his mother,
This child marks both the failure and
the recovery of many in Israel,
A figure misunderstood and contradicted—
the pain of a sword-thrust through you—
But the rejection will force honesty,
as God reveals who they really are.
36-38Anna the prophetess was also there, a daughter of Phanuel from the tribe of Asher. She was by now a very old woman. She had been married seven years and a widow for eighty-four. She never left the Temple area, worshiping night and day with her fastings and prayers. At the very time Simeon was praying, she showed up, broke into an anthem of praise to God, and talked about the child to all who were waiting expectantly for the freeing of Jerusalem.
39-40When they finished everything required by God in the Law, they returned to Galilee and their own town, Nazareth. There the child grew strong in body and wise in spirit. And the grace of God was on him.

Visit with Santa

Last week we visited Santa at Sony. It was a fun trip with lots of excitement from the girls. Both talked about seeing Santa and telling him what they wanted. Lillie said she just wanted to stand by him for her picture and that is okay with me. I am not going to force her to sit on his lap, I just wanted the picture together. As you see below she did wonderful!

Then there is Gracie. She was excited to see him and waited so great in line. She kept looking up to where he was standing and telling us to look. She seemed like she would do really good this year. And earlier she told me that she was going to stand by him too. Well, as soon as she came around the corner and was next to go, she changed her mind. She grabbed Alex's leg and started crying. Since I am such a good mom, while Lillie was getting her picture, I pried her off Alex and held her close to Santa for a picture. The photographer looked at me with a "what do you want me to do" look, and I said just take the picture, I do not mind if she is crying in it. Thus we have a Santa stare-down. It is too cute and hard to keep from smiling at it.

Don't worry she did not mind and talked for the rest of the evening about getting to see Santa. Here is another picture from later in the evening of the girls eating cookies at the party. As you can see there seems to be no long term affect of the trauma she endured earlier. :)

My scanner wasn't cooperating with me, and that is why the pictures of Santa came out with a shine. Sorry.

I want a hippopatamus for Christmas!

This is for my little brother! Merry Christmas, Ryan!

Lillie is beside herself with excitement. Every time I come in the living room she is peering under the tree. She doesn't try to open anything, but just making sure I hadn't snuck any new presents under there. :) Yesterday she wrapped a couple of things for Gracie from her and when Gracie got up from nap, Lillie exclaims loudly, "How did those presents get there?" It was too cute. This is going to be such a fun year!

Cow Pee

I had this weird conversation with my four year old yesterday on my way to church.
~~~~~~
Lillie - Mom, why do we drink cow pee?
Mom - We don't drink cow pee, that would be gross.
Lillie - Yes we do for breakfast, milk.
Mom - That is not pee, that is just milk. Do you remember how Gracie drank milk from me? A cow makes milk too. Well, a cow has udders and when you squeeze them, milk comes out. Then it runs thru a special machine so we can drink it.
Lillie - Oh yeah, I knew that, I just forgot.
Lillie - So, where does a cow pee at?
Mom(wondering where this line of questioning is coming from) - Their bottom.
Lillie - But where?
Mom - their bottom, under the tail.
Lillie - Tallie (our dog) squats down and pees. Is that how a cow pees?
Mom(at church now, and wanting to be finished with this gross questioning before going in) - We will look up all your questions tomorrow at table time.
~~~~~~

Now now you know what Lillie and I are doing today, what are your plans? :)

Less than a week

My girls are bouncing off the walls! As presents are appearing under the tree and the countdown to Christmas day is getting shorter, the excitement is growing. Last night we had Christmas with Alex's family. We had a nice dinner and then expectantly one of his sisters brought some gifts for the girls. After Lillie opened her present, she told me that she was so excited to get to open her first present. She got a purple Tinkerbell light and blowup chair that was in a small hamper. Gracie got a pink magna-doodle.

I hope that your family is excited too, but let us not forget the real reason for the season - JESUS!

Special Day

I posted before about Lillie and her friend Josiah, but this story is too cute to skip.

Last night at church Josiah's mom Amie was talking to me and said that Josiah is trying really hard to get Lillie to come back to preschool. I know he has been asking her why she doesn't go and she tells him that she is homeschooled now. When he was at our house on Monday, he asked if preschool was boring and that was why she didn't come back. Josiah tries to convince her to come to preschool by telling her about the new kids she can be friends with.

Anyways...

Amie said Josiah asked if Lillie could fit in their van and she said yes (she has ridden with them multiple times). Josiah proceeded to say that he wanted to take her to school with him on his special day (as his show-and-tell) so she could have a special day too. :)

How sweet is that? That boy is smitten with my Lillie (and who wouldn't, she is a cutee)! Of course, Lillie doesn't mind as she tells me that she will marry Josiah one day. The irony of this, if it really happened, would be that Josiah's Grandpa introduced Alex's parents! What a story that would turn into decades later.

The countdown is on!

Christmas is just around the corner!!!!! The girls and I are so excited. Lillie and Gracie have been putting on their ornaments on their felt tree, counting the days until Christmas Day. I have the baking bug and am trying to hold off until right before we have guests, so I am not too tempted to eat all the goodies. :) I tend to bake all year long, but there is just something about the Christmas season that brings it out even more in me. The only wish would be I had someone to clean up after I am finished.

All the shopping is finished for the girls except stocking stuff and I have Alex's presents bought and wrapped. So, I am ready for Christmas except the girls' gifts. Lillie and Gracie have been helping me wrap presents for gma and gpa and a few others we buy for. Lillie is a good little elf. Gracie, bless her heart, tries to help, but ends up getting frustrated that I won't hand over the scissors and tape. "But I am a big girl, Mommy." :)

This coming Saturday we are hosting a Christmas dinner for Alex's side of the family. This will start out our busy week of Christmas. Although it will busy, it is nice to get to see family that we don't see that often.

We saw Santa last night. It was an adventure. I will share more after we get the pictures back so you can fully enjoy the tales. :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Christmas update

Alex and I went Christmas shopping on Tuesday and I believe that we are pretty much finished with the little ones. The only things left to get are the stocking stuffers. That is a pretty good feeling. Now I have to get Alex something and Lillie has already asked him and has his list memorized. :o) It was so much fun shopping together this year. The past couple of years it seems like we have to go shopping alone and then we end up spending more than planned by trying to guess/remember what the other had picked up.

We also were able to order a couple of Christmas presents for free!! I ordered a princess popup tent and tunnel and a Disney princess book from Amazon.com. The total of this to me was around $10 (shipping and tax). I paid the rest of it with gift cards I earned using swagbucks!!! I have only been signed up for about 7 months and hoping that by next year I can pay most of my Christmas using swagbucks. It is very easy and even better - free to sign up for and use. Just simply search the web using their search engine (powered by google), earn points, and redeem for cool prizes - such as gift cards. I think that the best deal is the five dollar amazon gift cards for 45 points. Click on the links above to start earning points!

The girls are very excited about the snow. I let them go out on Monday for a few minutes and play. It wasn't very much, but enough for them to enjoy. They also loved watching the snow Wednesday. Lillie wished that it would not stop snowing until there was enough to build a snow man. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a bunch of snow, but after this weekend. I love snow now that I don't have to get out and drive in it. :)

I hope you are having a great Christmas thus far.

Funny Things

These are just a few things that I have found funny about my kids the past few days.

:o) Yesterday I had to intervene when my girls were fighting over who was bigger: Jesus or Gracie. Of course Gracie was telling Lillie she was bigger and Lillie informed her that no one is bigger than Jesus. This went on for several minutes, as I chuckled in the other room, until both girls came to me to ask who I thought was bigger.

:o) When we got home from the store today, Lillie comes from running over as I am putting groceries away. She excitedly says, "look what they gave us, a free bag." She was holding an unused plastic bag that had been stuck on a used bag. You would of thought she found a new toy.

:o) As looking for pictures, Gracie gets mad because Lillie is wearing one of her shirts in the picture. Of course it was Lillie's shirt before Gracie's.

:o) I asked Lillie to pick up her doll toys that she had been playing with. Later I saw where there was still stuffed animals and toys out, when I asked why she didn't pick up her toys, she replied, "I did, you just said to pick up the doll toys. I did that."

A Lillie Thought

Lillie, the Theologian, says to Gracie with a very serious look on her face,

"When you get to heaven, Gracie, you forget all the bad things you done. That's right all the bad things you done."

Hammer Time

I have started working out this week. My church has a gym set up in it and I have gone three days this week with my friend Amber. I have tried the working out at home, but with two little ones it is pretty hard to get too much done. I am usually too tired after they are in bed and really who wants to get all sweaty and then have to shower again before bed? I have tried getting up in the morning, but they seem to sense that I am going to get up and rise before I have a chance.

So, it is to the gym and honestly it feels pretty good. I am also more likely to go because someone is waiting for me. There is also a little bit of a competitive spirit that rises up in me and pushes me a little harder when I am working out with another person. I have already noticed an increase of energy when I get home from working out. I have been running, biking and using the elliptical demon... I mean machine. :) Since I can only work out when Alex is off, I am trying to do more stuff at home. Yesterday I did a bunch of sit-ups and push-ups and today I am going to try to run too.

I am also watching what I eat as well. I am not a dieter, so instead I am just eating smaller portions and trying to cut back my snacking. I am hoping that all this will produce some outcome in the next couple of weeks, even if small.

Spreading a Little Christmas Cheer

It is December and Christmas will be here before we know it!!! My girls are pretty excited, of course I am too. :)

Lillie has spent the past several days making presents for everyone and anyone! They usually consist of paper, string, stickers, markers, and glue. It is pretty thoughtful though because she has one for each member of our family (and some have two). She closes her door with her craft supplies, wrapping paper and works away only stopping to ask me to write down names on a sheet of paper that she can copy from. I was pretty impressed when I found a present she had wrapped for me. She had figured out how to spell mommy by sounding it out and wrote it with no help. Because she has been so sweet and thoughtful and since everyone but her has a present beneath the tree, I surprised her by wrapping a present for her. Just to see her eyes was priceless.

What makes the above so much better is that she knows Christmas isn't about presents or Santa which are nice, but about the birth of Jesus. When commercials advertise and say it is all about the _______, Lillie jumps right in and corrects them!

Well, she is pacing right know with a stack of paper robots she made and wants to wrap. When I asked her who they were for, she replied - I don't know yet, but they will be for someone. :)

A Lillie Thought

Lillie came to realization today.

While putting lights up outside she goes, "Mom, when Jesus was born he didn't have any clothes on."

I answered, "that's right - no one is born with clothes on."

She then thinks for a couple of minutes and goes, "Oh, I think I might have known that." :)

Thankful List

"I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High" Psalm 7:17

I thought I would post a list of some things (or people) I am thankful for.

~ My Lord Jesus, who without there would not be much of a list. He took me out of the miry clay and He set my foot on the rock to stay.

~ Alex-my husband who works hard to allow me to stay home and raise our babies and takes such good care of me. I love you!

~ My beautiful girls. They make me smile, laugh, and just plain happy. They love me no matter how dorky I act. :)

~ The rest of my family. I love that the Lord blessed me with christian parents who have taught from early on the importance of Christ in my life. My siblings - we may not always see eye to eye, but I love them and know that they will always be there for me. And the rest of the crew, I love them all, even the crazies (which is the category that I am afraid I may fall into)

~ My friends. I love all of you and am so blessed that God has surrounded me with a wonderful bunch of women. Thank you for being my friends!

~ My house and car. I like playing in cardboard boxes with my girls, but don't care to live in one! ;)

~ My church and pastor. I love my Pastor and his family. I am so blessed to be part of a church with a pastor that doesn't just talk the talk, but goes to the street and walks it.

~ Peanut Buster Parfaits. Need I say more. :o)

~ Internet. It may seem silly, but there are several friends from my past that I have been able to reconnect with thru facebook, blogger and email.

I hope has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Gobble, Gobble,Gobble!

Sleepyheads

I am pretty tired this morning. Gracie for some reason didn't sleep well over the weekend, meaning I didn't either. She did sleep good last night.

Then last night Lillie decided that she didn't want to wear a goodnight. She will stay dry all night on occasion, but is a fairly heavy sleeper and just doesn't wake up if she needs to go, so I am all about the goodnights. However I know that she thinks she is wearing a diaper and only babies wear diapers. I decided that if she thought she was ready then we will give it a try and didn't let her drink anything after supper. Then made sure she went potty several times up to bedtime.

Around 4am I heard little footsteps and then heard, "Mommy, I'm wet." I had already laid out extra sheets, blankets and pajamas just in case so it didn't take long for the switch-a-roo plus we had a mattress pad on the bed to protect the mattress. I just couldn't get back to sleep.

I am just wondering what suggestions my online friends have for getting past this or convincing her that goodnights are not diapers.

Finished Projects

Well, I have completed one of my projects. I finished Gracie's room yesterday. I was a little worried that all the polk-a-dots would overwhelm the room, but I think that it turned out pretty good. The curtains and bedskirt I had made previously also look good in the room. I also ordered a new toy bin organizer. Gracie had two baskets overflowing with toys and when she wanted a certain toy ALL of the toys were dumped out to get to it. The new bins make it easier to organize and get to all her toys. It also helps it look neater in her room. Overall I am really pleased at the outcome. Here are a few pictures.

Alex promised Lillie that after I finished painting that we would get down the Christmas stuff. She could hardly wait and definitely showed a lot of patience. :) So after dinner we took everything down and put up the tree. By that time it was after bedtime so we decided to decorate it this morning. The first thing Lillie says when she walked into my room was: Let's decorate the Christmas tree. Then Gracie who was sleeping (at least I thought she was) whispers: met too. We got up, ate breakfast and started decorating. It was a lot of fun and tree is very decorated, well, at least the bottom half. :) Here are a couple fun pictures of the girls.

Previously I posted about Gracie sleeping w/Baby Jesus. This morning she put him back and looks at me and tells me: "I put him back and tonight I sleep with his mommy. Tomorrow I sleep with his daddy and then I sleep with the angel." =) Too cute!

Away in the manger

We took out our Christmas stuff this evening after dinner. We only set up the tree and plan on decorating it tomorrow. However I let the girls take the Little People Nativity Set out. They loved it. Gracie carried baby Jesus around so tenderly and loving all evening. I wish I could of taken a picture of it because of how sweet it was. When it was bedtime she ran over to the table and said, "I sleep with baby Jesus." How can you argue with a that? I said yes, but that she had to put him back in the morning.

Fast Forward - Gracie is playing, not sleeping with baby Jesus. Mommy says, "Gracie, if you don't go to sleep, I am going to take Jesus away from you."

What kind of mom takes Jesus away? =)

PS. She did go to sleep shortly there after.

70's Night

So, after my last post you could tell I was a little upset that my baby is growing up. And although that is still true, I am accepting it. :) It is a wonderful thing and I do love watching her changing into a little girl.

Lillie's favorite song right now is Everyone was Kung Fu Fighting. She wants my to play the 70's CD all the time. Her and Gracie will start out dancing in some kung fu manner and they will have me rolling by the end. I need to get a video of this. Alex broke out the strobe light last week and Lillie thinks that is sooo cool. She put on sparkly dress up clothes and danced the night away. Gracie liked it as well, but did not get in to it as much as Lillie. I took a video but it is hard to watch with the light going.

I have started working on Gracie's room. My goal was to have it finished by the end of the weekend, but that didn't happen. My stencil I made just didn't cut it, so I ended up tracing circles on the wall and then painting by hand. I still have two more walls. Hopeful that they will get done on Alex's next days off. I think that it looks pretty neat. I will post a picture of the finished room hopefully next week. The girls kept coming in and telling me that the polk-a-dots look good Momma. They are too sweet.

Have a good Monday.

Sad Mommy Moment

I know you all are probably tired of the paci chronicles, but I am going to post once more my paci travels. This is currently one week without the paci!!!! It is really nice to not have to deal with it. However nap is becoming an issue. The first few times were fine and she cried but only temporarily and not too hard. The past two days she cried hard and Sunday for almost an hour after all of that she ended up not napping and being a grouch the rest of the day. Today she cried only about ten minutes, but still it is, as Lillie would say, frustrating. Bedtime, she is not crying, but talking me to death. Bless her heart she has so much to say at night and now with no plug she is free to speak. :) Although I am thankful that her talking usually doesn't involve asking for a paci.

What makes all of this even harder for me is she is growing up. Gracie is pretty much potty trained and now paci free. Since the disappearance of the paci came a new found desire - not to be rocked at bedtime. A sign that she is not a "baby" anymore. Boohoo, boohoo.

I am just whining today, but I miss my little one and our cuddle time at bedtime.

Several Updates

Just thought I would update you on the no paci situation. It is going GREAT. She has only asked for it a couple of times and when I reply that we had to give them to the cashier for your new baby she is not necessarily OK with it, but is satisfied with the answer. Last night she slept all night without. It has now been over 48 hours and we are definitely not going back.

Now for other updates - Gracie is so independent. She refuses to let me help her get dressed or even comb her hair. When we are just staying home I let her "do it her way" and boy is it cute. :) When we go to church she has begun to tell me that she can walk by herself. Her exact words are "I can walk by myself, 'member?!?" and the other day she added "I not lying!" I am a little sad because of how fast she seems to be growing up. She is now pretty much potty trained and now she doesn't have her paci. She tries so hard to keep up with Lillie too and do all that Lillie does. It is hard to believe that I just brought her home from the hospital two yrs ago.

Just this week I was watching Lillie and realizing how much and fast she has grown up. She has pretty much lost her baby look and has begun looking like a little girl. She has also started talking back. Argh! She has something to say after me almost every time and I am ready to pull my hair out. Please someone with older children tell me that this is a phase that will disappear really really soon!!!!!! :o/ She is a good big sister though. She teaches Gracie lots of different things, but most important to me is the Bible lessons she gives her. They may not always be correct, but are cute to listen to none the less.

I haven't updated on our new addition recently and thought I would let you know that it is completely finished and we are moved in and using it daily. The walls are pretty bare, but eventually we will get those filled up. My next goal is to get Gracie's room painted and finished. Hopefully we will be able to do that within the next couple of weeks. I will try and post pictures of the new room finished with furniture next time.

Have a great day.

Girls and Dolls

Well, today I took Gracie to the store and let her pick out a new doll that would only cost 2 pacifiers. She picked out a Strawberry Shortcake doll that came with stickers, makeup wand, and hair clippees. It was on sale and I paid just a fraction of the original cost. I was thinking about how sweet it was that she picked out that doll because Lillie had picked out a Dancing Strawberry doll when she got rid of her last pacifier at about the same age. :) She has asked once about her paci and I just said remember we had to buy your doll with the paci and she seemed okay with that.

Lillie informed me on the way there that it wouldn't be very fair to buy Gracie a present and not her. I explained that Gracie didn't get anything when she gave hers up and then with four yr old logic she goes, " Well, that probably wasn't very fair to Gracie." How can you argue with that?? So I folded and let her pick out a small toy that didn't cost very much.

Yesterday we held a playdate with Miss Ellie. The girls had so much fun. They played Barbies, dress-up, held a tea party luncheon, and played with balloons. I did learn how much different a two yr playdate is verses a four yr old playdate. Both are fun, but one takes a little more planning. Here are some pictures from the morning.
Sorry it is so dark, I don't know why it turned out that way. All three are smiling and laughing.

Gracie and Ellie playing Barbies while dressed up as fairy princesses. =)

Saturday School

I am sitting here folding clothes and this is the story I hear Lillie retelling for Gracie during their pretend school.

"One day Joseph ran to his Dad and said my brothers don't like my new coat - we should throw them into the lions den. So he went back to his brothers and they said Joseph come here and see what we have for you. When Joseph got there they threw him in the lions den and Joseph said that wasn't nice because they lied to me. Then he prayed. Gracie, can you say pray? P P P Pray? If you can say it by yourself then I will give you a skittle!! How about manna? Can you say manna? Let me get my good skittles (She has no skittles so I don't know what she is getting). How about Miriam? Okay, so his brothers come back say we're sorry - WE ARE GOING TO LEAVE YOU IN THE LIONS DEN. Joseph jumped out and then threw them in the lions den. Is that very nice? Gracie - No. "

I could go on and on as she included a couple more different stories,but it is probably not as interesting to you as it is to me. :) It is funny how several different Bible stories come together into one big story. I also have figured out that Miss Thanasoula must give out skittles to those who participate in the story. I am very blessed!!! Thank you Jesus.

You know you are Penticostal when.....

1) playing church and during "alter call" you must fall down when the "preacher" lays hands on you.

2) during play church there is a message in tongues.

3) blessing dinner your child starts babbling or "speaking in tongues",

4) and then wants to know what they said!

This list comes from my own experience with my girls. They reenact all of what they hear and see at church. Bless my little girls!!

Pumpkin Carving

We painted and carved our pumpkins yesterday. The girls had so much fun. I will let the pictures and captions tell the story. :)
Lillie was so focused during her painting. She made a smiley face on one side and rainbows on the rest.

Gracie was so cute to watch and if she was constantly telling Lillie that if she got paint on her hands just wipe it on her paint shirt and it would be okay.

Watching Daddy clean out the pumpkin. Gracie dove right in, but Lillie decided that it was too sticky for her. :)

Daddy being silly!!

The finished Jack-O-Lantern. Each of the girls helped carve a little and Lillie actually drew a similar picture on a piece of paper for us to use as a stencil.

Pumpkin Works

We haven't had much family time for awhile so we made Wednesday a family day. We got up and had muffins, and then got ourselves ready and went to pumpkin works. The girls had so much fun. We took pictures in the wooden silhouettes and then started the mazes. Lillie wanted to do the dark maze first, but I did have my reservations about it. Thankfully there was no one else in it so we let her turn on her flashlight. The corn maze was our favorite, but just a word of advice: Don't let a four and two yr old choose your path! Actually it was really fun letting them decide and since we were in no hurry it wasn't a big deal if it took a little longer. I could tell that Lillie was getting tired of it when she turned on her serious face and lead us straight out without any hesitation. We went thru a couple more mazes and then headed home with our pumpkins.

In the corn maze - the girls were so cute to watch trying to find their way out.
Ready to take their pumpkins home and paint the little ones. We will carve the big one.
We decided to go to Dobbs park (we knew that Deming would be packed on a beautiful day like yesterday). We played at the playground and went thru the nature center. Afterwards we headed to Walmart and got a few items including Gracie's Halloween costume :) and then went home. Overall it was a nice, relaxing day, but we were pretty tired and decided to stay home last night. Lillie was so upset, she loves church so much and cried when she figured out that we were not going to make it. I think that she would of cried either way because she was exhausted and barely keeping her eyes opened as it was. Both girls were in bed by eight!
This is just a random picture of Lillie from earlier this month. She was dressing up and posing for pictures. It was really funny.

Have a good day.

Faith like a child

I was talking to Lillie about the upcoming field trip we are taking on Friday. I told her that there is a chance it might rain and we may not get to go. She was upset and said let's pray that it won't rain. So I said a simple prayer and when I was finished I was thinking to myself - I hope it won't rain, but that is what the weatherman said. Lillie then spoke up and said matter of fact, "Now it won't rain and we will go on our field trip."

I am just in awe of how God teaches me. I immediately had doubt, but Lillie had faith. There was no hesitation with Lillie, when we said amen, it was done - no rain on Friday. Please help me Lord to have the child-like faith that my children have.

The Girls

I have been pretty good about updating you on the addition, but haven't said much about the girls so here it goes.

Gracie is pretty much potty trained. She wears panties all day and we have even gone to the store and out to eat a few time with them instead of pull-ups. She also takes herself to the bathroom which is nice because I don't have to stop several times a day to take her now. With the work on the house done her nap schedule is coming back to normal. Bedtime is getting much easier. She is sleeping all night which is a blessing in itself. It was not that she didn't sleep good before, but she would wake up a couple of times a night and I would have to go in there and comfort her. Her and Lillie are playing pretty good together and is very cute to watch. She loves her big sister and tries hard to do everything Lillie is doing.

Lillie is really into pretend play. She loves playing school and church. They usually are intertwined in the same game. Last night she was pretending to have church. She did praise and worship, preached, and had an alter call. It was too cute. I wish I would of had my camera to tape it. She told Alex he had to come up and catch people when she was praying for them. :) She loves table time and can't hardly wait to do it. She is learning so much and I am trying to keep it fun so she will continue to enjoy it and want to do it. I heard her tell someone the other day that she had school at home and that she really likes it.

Well I have probably given you more than enough to read for today. Have a good weekend.

Jesus Live in my Heart

While I was taking a shower, Lillie and Gracie were on my bed playing school. Now when they play school,they always have to bring their Bibles. Today the conversation I heard was:

Lillie: Gracie do you have Jesus in your heart?
Gracie: Yes
Lillie whispers: You are supposed to say No
Gracie: No
Lillie: Then you need to ask Jesus to live in your heart.
Gracie yells: Jesus live in my heart!!
Lillie : Now you have Jesus in your heart.

I could hardly keep from smiling and tearing up. I am so blessed. Lillie went on to tell about the story of the Good Shepherd who left the 99 to look for the 1 lost sheep. Thank you Lord for children who already know how important they are to Jesus.

Addition

We are now finished with our addition except for the brick and guttering outside. The inside will need a few paint touch-ups, but is ready for the furniture. This may become the hardest decision as to where everything will go, but I am sure we will move it around over the next several weeks. =) Here are a couple of pictures of the inside finished without furniture.

This is the new rug we purchased for the room. We also have a smaller version at the entry way. Sorry it is so dark - I am not known for good photography skills! :)

This is the new fan we got this weekend. We bought the fan, blinds and flooring separately and saved over $500!!!

I will post outside pictures after the brick is finished.

Sleeping babies

Lillie spent the afternoon playing with her friend Josiah at his house. She was so exhausted when she got home that she nodded off for a cat nap almost immediately. I just happened to look at the chair and catch her trying hard to stay awake, but losing the battle. So being the good mom I am, I snapped several pictures of her fighting it until she finally gave in.
Just starting the battle.

She just won't let go of the balloons that Josiah gave her.

She is almost out.

She is trying really hard to open her eyes......

But just couldn't do it. :)

Now if this wasn't sweet enough, Gracie had set up her and Lillie's Disney playmats and characters. During this she would talk (almost nonstop) to Lillie, when she realized that she never got answered she comes to me angry and tells on her. "Sissy, is not talking to me!" I told her she was sleeping, and she goes "I don't want her to sleep - I missed her!"

Painting in Progress

Well, we got to start painting today. Actually we started last night. All the walls have been primed (thanks to my sister-in-law Annnette) and the wall in our current room and one wall of the addition have been painted. We decided to carry the color of our living room now (an eggshell/sandy color) into our addition. With curved corners on the entrance way it was going to be hard to get a clean line between the walls. The other three walls will be rusty leaves (I'll post pictures of the colors later).
The girls had to take part in the painting and were adorable doing so. We allowed them to help paint the first coat of primer.

We also decided to splurge with light fixture. ;)

I'll post pictures of the finished paint job in the next day or two.

Addition Update and Barbie clothes

The end is getting near. The contractor said he is looking to be completely finished (inside and out) in another 2 weeks. Yay!!! The windows that they had to order will be here at nine tomorrow morning and that will help the look a lot. I am a bit disappointed because I had hoped to be able to start painting this evening, but it is not ready (I guess that is the Lord's way of saying I shouldn't miss church). I am still crossing my fingers that it we can start painting tomorrow evening. I don't want to spend the weekend painting! With the completion of the painting, the floor will get started on come Monday.

Lillie has been asking for some new Barbie clothes, but I just can't bring myself to buy clothes for a doll. I don't really know how much they run, but no matter what the cost it just doesn't seem worth it to me. SSSSOOOO.......I am making my own! I have made a very simple dress in no time flat. I will post pictures of my work soon, but I want to get a couple more done to show. I just used extra fabric that I have, which Alex would love for me to get rid of, but I am such a pack rat. You never know when that square will come in handy. :-)

Will we remember?

Lillie asked me today if we would remember things from "down here when we are in heaven?" A question that kept me thinking all day.

So many times we do something that the world may think is important, but looking from eternity doesn't matter. In dealing with the stubbornness or strong will of my children I do find that asking questions such as "Is it going to matter tomorrow, next week, year, or eternity that they wear that or do that?"(as long as safe) This seems to put things into perspective. But maybe that should be a question we ask more often.

While yes, I do think we may remember good memories from earth, I don't think we will remember keeping the house spotless, having the best kept yard, dressing in the newest clothes, etc. But we will remember the people who made that soul changing impression on us or who we made a soul changing impression on (including your children).

Now when a little voice is asking for your attention, ask which memory you want them to remember: Mommy/Daddy spending time with them or you telling them you are too busy to play. Dirty dishes/laundry, Internet or whatever is keeping you from making lasting memories will still be here tomorrow.

1John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things of the world.

Addition update

Our addition is coming along quite nicely and quickly. The window in Gracie's room has been switched to the outside wall and we now have a entrance way to the room in our house. It is, of course, covered in plastic and a baby gate is helping to block the little ones out. We will be able to paint it by the the mid to end of next week. I have taken the border off half of Gracie's room and as soon as the addition in painted, will be doing the painting in there as well.
The Entrance way from the rest of the house:

One view of the room from the entrance.

Potty Update

We are currently using just panties for Gracie during the day at our house. WOO HOO! This is going great. She is taking herself and has had no accidents for several days. She even tells me to leave the room when she has to go. :)

Have a great day.

Another project finished!

As I posted earlier with the curtains, I had enough material I thought to make a bed skirt to match. Weellll - I did. I took today to do a little sewing and this is my completed project. I also have a little material left that I might be able to whip up something else to match, just not sure of what yet (the material is a too heavy for a pillowcase). The bedding does not match, but that is just a little fix later with change of sheets. The bumper pad will stay up a bit longer as it keeps in her paci's during the night! :)
