It strikes again!

Just when I thought that the sickness was leaving, Gracie got up Friday at 1:30am vomiting. She only was sick a couple of times and after going back to sleep a few hours later she woke up back to normal. However, I got up feeling awful. I spent the whole day sick and by the afternoon Alex was starting to feel sick too. I blessed to have great parents and a little brother who took the girls last night. Thank you!!!! We both got up this morning feeling much better although we are putting off our date night for now. I am really looking forward to spring with warm weather and hopefully the end of flu season!

A Lillie Day

Today was about Lillie. She recently has asked for a bigger bed. I had just kind of shrugged it off, knowing that this summer we had already planned to get one. However, I had her lay in bed and realized that she is just a couple of inches of being able to touch both ends. We had bought a convertible crib (crib-toddler-full) so we only needed to buy a bed frame for a full size mattress set. We found a set (mattress and box springs) at a price we weren't able to pass up along with a bed frame. Lillie was so cute looking at the two sets we were choosing from and she selected the one we were going to pick anyways (thankfully). Alex had planned on picking it up tomorrow, but with a little persuading from Lillie we decided to go ahead a get it today. It is set up despite Lillies helping :) and her room doesn't seem to have lost as much space as I had anticipated. She is really looking forward to sleeping in it. We also ordered pizza and bread sticks, which is her favorite food! So, today was a Lillie Day.

I didn't realize how emotional of an event that purchasing a bed would be. Here is my baby, in a regular bed. I didn't actually cry, but I could of at times today. She just seems to grow up way too fast. I don't know what I will do when Gracie comes to that point in a few years. :(

On a happy note, I am looking forward to having a date night this Saturday.

Update

We finally got over ear infections and a new tooth for Gracie, when the flu bug struck Lillie. She started with a bellyache yesterday afternoon and progressed from there. I slept on her floor last night to help with traveling to and from the bathroom. Thankfully we only had to get up once for that, but she did ask for water several times. She seems better this morning, but has not had anything but 7up so far.

Gracie is becoming such a big girl. She has been using the potty and wearing panties! She doesn't want to wear a diaper since she can't put it on by herself. Yesterday I was doing dishes and I heard her go into the bathroom and I peeked around the corner and she was taking herself to the bathroom. I can't believe how fast she seems to be potty training (she is 21 months). She has only had once accident since Sunday evening. She also has been talking a lot! She can sing her ABC's and count to 10 (sometimes to 12).

On another bright note, my bathroom is probably the cleanest it has been (not that it wasn't clean before) since I have spent to so much time in it the past couple days. :)

Thoughts from a 3 year old

I thought I would share a conversation I had with Lillie this past Wednesday evening.

As our neighbor is leaving his house :

Lillie - "There's that man leaving. He is going to church, isn't he mom?"

Mom - "I don't know, I hope so."

Lillie - "He is, he loves Jesus. "

Mom - "I hope hope he loves Jesus. "

Lillie very seriously - "Yeah, he's going to church or to his own funeral or something."

Mom trying hard not to laugh - "Yes, he is going somewhere."

I don't know how a three year old thinks, but somehow she came up with the idea that he was either going to church or his funeral. I did have to leave the room for a second to laugh. I believe there should be a tape recorder running at all times to get what she say. Bless her heart.

On the mend

I believe after two weeks of ear infections and coughs we are finally done with the exception of an occasional cough. Yea!!!!
This week hasn't had too much excitement unless you count scrubbing the kitchen floor! My mop broke a few weeks ago and I have been swiffer mopping it, but it really needed a scrub so I broke out the bucket and scrub brush. The sad part is that I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and forgot to buy a new mop again. Lillie thought it looked like so much fun that she wanted to help. She talked nonstop the whole time - I don't know who she gets that from ; )!
Here she is scrubbing away!
She is actually enjoying it. She has blue lips and teeth from the fun dip she was eating right before we got started.

Double Duty

The girls are much better. We are staying home this morning, but planning on going to church tonight. Last week when we didn't go, we watched some of the morning service online and Lillie was upset that we weren't there. She said her friends are probably looking for her and wondering where she was.

On a bright note with the sickness at my house - Gracie wants to use the potty all the time. All the time as in every 5-10 minutes. This is quite frustrating when I am in the middle of dinner, but hopefully this will move us closer to being out of diapers.

Sleepless Nights

Well, so much for the girls getting better. I was up all night with both girls crying over earaches and bellyaches. I probably got 3 1/2 hours of sleep. Now, I know that I can function on this, but not very easily. Gracie spent over an hour with non-stop crying - pulling her ear and saying belly hurts and then another couple of hours trying to sleep, but whimpering. About the time I got her back to sleep enough to put her in bed with Alex, Lillie got up with a fever and saying her ear hurt. I took Lillie to the doctor this morning and she has a double ear infection. Alex was able to take the day off work to help take care of the girls, he too didn't get to sleep too much, but a little more than me. To make matters worse, the medicine for Lillie is not very good - even with adding more flavor to it - and extremely hard to get her to take it. I am hoping to get to nap a little this afternoon. Please pray for my girls that they get over these ear infections quickly. Thanks.

Gracie is almost all better. She is still coughing a little and a little congested, but no fever since Saturday. However, the poor thing a horrible diaper rash from the antibiotic. Yesterday she would cry every time she peed. Lillie is sounding a little congested, but I am claiming she is not getting what Gracie had. She has her Valentine party tomorrow morning and would be so disappointed if she didn't get to go.

Lillie and I went outside yesterday while Gracie was napping (to sound fair - Alex took Gracie out while Lillie and I were at preschool). I had so much fun. We played hopscotch, took rides in the wagon, rode her bike, and played restaurant. She would come to the front of the garage and I would seat her, give her a menu, take her order, bring her food and then collect payment. She would switch me roles and the benefit of her being the waitress - she would forget to collect payment. :) I really need to start taking more pictures!

Sick Saturdays

It is just 11 am, but I have been to the doctors and the pharmacy already. Gracie got up yesterday morning with a lot of chest congestion and she was just plain cranky! I ran a vaporizer all day, and by night she was the same. She slept horrible, which is understandable since she was having a hard time breathing, so I too was up most of the night. She also started running a fever. To make shorten my story, she has an ear infection and upper respiratory infection and is on an antibiotic. Thankfully she seems to like the taste of it!

I did however, find the missing Grover book from our collection of Sesame Street books and both girls got an activity book with stickers. One of my many downfalls of taking the girls with me to get a prescription filled is that 15-20 minute wait. There is always something I find that I need, although I didn't need it the day before. :)

Hope all is healthy in your families!

I will rise

I heard this song on the radio on my way home from Wal-Mart and thought I would share. I normally prefer a little more upbeat songs, but the message of these lyrics excited me. I was going to actually upload a video so you could hear him sing it, but I couldn't get it to work. I am going to put it on my playlist. Here are the lyrics:

I will rise by Chris Tomlin

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

[Chorus:]
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

[Chorus:]
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
[x2]

[Chorus:]
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

Shopping w/Lillie

Yesterday we took a trip to the mall in hopes of finding some good deals on dresses for Lillie. She gets upset on Sundays when we get ready and she doesn't have any dresses to wear to church, especially when Gracie and I are in dresses. I will change into pants to help her feel better, but she is still upset. My friend Amber had told me about a few sales and I thought we would check them out. There were several cute dresses, but my daughter had an excuse why they were not acceptable - that dress looks itchy, it doesn't have any princesses on it - the list goes on and on. We still bought a couple of dresses that were not up to her standards and one dress that was. Unfortunately the dress she liked with princesses on it was, in my opinion, kind of ugly. Oh well, we are just getting to that age where she wants to express her own style. She was happy with the flip flops we purchased though! I am happy because I got a couple of pairs of jeans - although I would be happier if they were a size smaller . That darn AD-36 :) .
