Random Thought

The girls and I just got home from church and as they are eating their kids meals I thought I would give you something to think about. If a movie is rated PG-13 (some material may not be suitable for children under 13) then is it appropriate to give out kids meal toys for that movie since kids meals are marketed to 12 and unders? Hmmm.

I was looking at the paper that came with their meals and opened it to see a poster of a Star Trek ship with the movie rating and was a little puzzled by it. Here the company is passing out toys geared towards the movie, but being sure to say that the movie is not really appropriate for anyone eating this meal. I really don't have a problem with Star Trek, even though I am not into that kind of science fiction, I am just curious to your thoughts.

By the way, something has happened whether it be on our end or the company's end and we are now off of dial up and I can't believe how fast our connection is. I can actually watch the videos that some of my fellow bloggers post!

  1. I've often wondered the same thing! I wish they'd go back to McDonald's toys with the characters from McDonald's. Even some of the kid's movies are questionable in terms of content.

  2. I'm glad your got your internet issues resolved. And, I have had the exact same thought as you about the kids movies. I was a little puzzled when, last year, we took the kids out and the toys were promoting the new Batman movie. It didn't seem to make any sense. I know that often restaurants will offer some kind of "toddler toy" as an alternative to the regular toy, but that isn't really a great option for a four, five, or six year old who expects a big kid toy. Sadly, we have swiped the toys from the boxes before we've given them to our kids. I'm glad you brought this up, it's got me thinking again...I wonder if there's something we can do about it, especially if enough people have the same concern. Thanks!!

  3. Don't you hate that? It just makes the kids want to see the movie, even though they can't! Whoever is in charge of this is not too brilliant! I am so glad you are off dial-up, you will love it and never want to go back!
